Whitney Houston suffered a heart attack due to prolong atherosclerotic heart disease.  After several weeks of waiting and speculation, the coroners office finally released the singer’s autopsy report stating that this was the official cause of death.

Whitney’s death was also due to an accidental drowning, as well as years of cocaine abuse. It is suspected that Houston’s cocaine abuse lead to the development of heart disease — specifically, atherosclerotic heart disease.

At 3:01 p.m. PST

The Houston family released a statement to The Associated Press :

“We are saddened to learn of the toxicology results, although we are glad to now have closure.” -Patricia Houston,  sister-in-law & manager

Q: What exactly is atherosclerotic heart disease? How did it contribute to Houston’s drowning?

A: Atheresclerotic heart disease occurs when plaque hardens within the arteries, narrowing them and limiting the flow of blood to other organs in the body and can lead to heart-attack, stroke and even death.

There are a several factors that can contribute to the diagnosis of a heart condition. Some of the causes are: lack of exercise, poor diet and alcohol abuse. However Whitney Houston’s condition was exacerbated by years of cocaine use. The constant use and exposure of the chemical make-up of cocaine within the blood vessels often lead to multiple scarring in the heart and arteries. Unfortunately it is most likely that Whitney’s heart condition triggered a heart attack after the singer took her final hit of cocaine. This caused her to have heart failure while she was in the bathtub, which then led to her accidental drowning.

The 48-year-old singer openly struggled with drug abuse throughout her life, she spoke candidly on the subject during her 2002 interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer. However due to Whitney’s heart condition the repeated use of cocaine caused a severe impact on her heart.

Whitney Houston’s body was found submerged under water in the bathtub of her suite at the Beverley Hills hotel on Feb. 12.  The singer died on the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards. Although the autopsy report states that the cause of death was due to a heart attack the toxicology tests did report that cocaine and other drugs where found in Whitney’s system.  Based on the toxicology report Whitney had marijuana, Flexeril (the muscle relaxant) , Xanax (the anti-anxiety medication) and  Benadryl (allergy medicine). The other drugs that were found in Whitney’s hotel room were Ibuprofen and Midol.  However none of these drugs contributed to the singers cause of death. Investigators found NO EVIDENCE of cocaine in the hotel room.

Law enforcement at the crime scene stated from the beginning that they did not suspect foul play, officers suspected early on that the singers death was not a homicide.

Whitney Houston’s family members were upset to learn that the singer had drugs in her system. However the Houston family had doubts about Whitney’s demise — suggesting there may have been foul play.

The coroner’s office did not say how much cocaine was found in Houston’s system, but it was noted that there were signs of both recent and chronic use. It will be a couple weeks before the coroner’s office can reveal exactly how much cocaine was in Houston’s system.

Meanwhile, Whitney Houston’s friend and reported one-time beau, Ray J, told TMZ on Thursday that he had no idea the 48-year-old singer was using cocaine again. Whitney and Ray J were spotted together during the days before her death. Singer-producer Ray J was not at the Beverly Hilton hotel where Houston died. Houston died just hours before she was expected to appear at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards party.

This is a very sad ending to a iconic career. I will always love Whitney, her lagacy will live on in her music and in her fans (like me). Whitney fans will get to see Houston in the movie “Sparkle,” due out this summer.

Nicki Minaj

Nick Minaj’s new album entitled Roman Reloaded received very harsh reviews from Billboard Magazine.  Could this the beginning of the end? Well at least  Nicki Minaj picked up an endoresent from Pepsi just before the release of her sophmore album, and now she has $1 million reasons not to care about reviews.

Nicki’s new album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” may not be be getting much love from the fans and critics either. According to Billboard  ”The sophomore album from Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is just as schizophrenic as Minaj and her two alter egos ”— and that’s not a compliment.

Nicki  may have hit a commercial home run with her new single “Starships,”  however the critics are not impressed. In fact, Billboard.com  thinks that Nicki’s new pop sound “may alienate a good chunk of her core to focus on singing instead of imaginative rhymes.” Most critics are saying that Nicki spends more time exploring her musical identity on “Roman Reloaded” than she does perfecting one, which makes the album sound bloated and rushed.

Nick Minaj, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Album

From Billboard

“Indeed, the first half of “Roman Reloaded” is the sound of Minaj doing a victory lap – already established enough in hip-hop to compete with her male counterparts, she leaves plenty of room for guests like Rick Ross2 ChainzDrake, and Chris Brown to take the mic. This time around, however, she seems to have her sights set on competing with Jennifer LopezLady Gaga and Madonna, based on the album’s pop-heavy second half. If you thought her David Guetta single “Turn Me On” was a major departure last summer, get ready for five more songs that sound pretty much exactly like that”.

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to listen to Nicki’s new project. I did like her first album, (I own 2 copies, one for home and one for my car) however I would not call myself a fan (yet). There have been some inconsistencies in her sound since her debut album, so I am still on the fence about if I will truly continue to support her as an artist. When I have heard the album in it’s entirety I will write an update. However, those of you who have listened to the album please tell me what you think of it.

And if you didn’t know, now you know….

Whitney Houston & Rihanna

If Hollywood were to ever produce a script for a film depicting the life and tragic death of Icon  Whitney HoustonRihanna says she would be honored to play her.

There has not been any talk in Hollywood about producing a Whitney Houston biopic. However speculation has run rampant since the Feb. 11 passing of the music legend. People are curious as to who would be the ideal candidate to take on such a role if a biopic was ever produced.

In addition to Rihanna, other names that have been mentioned to play the fallen singer, such as Jennifer HudsonBrandyJordin Sparks and actress Meagan Good. Meagan recently told Marc Malkin at E! News that she and Houston had actually begun discussions a possible movie for Meagan to star in.

Rihanna told Britain’s  The Telegraph  about her desire to play Whitney. Rihanna stated ”That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do

Whitney Houston

because I would want to really pull it off. That’s a huge, huge role and whoever does it has to do a good job.” -Rihanna.

Rihanna considered Houston to be one of her idols.

“My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song—’I Will Always Love You.  All of her music actually was always played in my house, with Mariah Carey and Céline Dion.” -Rihanna.

In the meanwhile, you can catch 24-year-old Rihanna in her soon-to-be-released film “Battleship”.

Production crews are the REAL stars on set because we are the REAL talent! Models are just beautiful and skinny, where’s the talent in that?! Models receive ALL the praise, worship and acknowledgement from the public, as well as from the beauty and fashion industry. Please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t hate models, I love models (they are my co-workers) some of my best friends are models, however they all secretly agree with me!

We Makeup artists, hairstylists, wardrobe stylists, photographers, videographers/cameramen, lighting experts, sound experts, photoshop experts and editors invest time and money in either school or some form of formal training to become great at what we do. However we receive the least about of praise and recognition, our names are in smaller print when credited, and in some cases we are not even mentioned or credited at all!

If you are great at what you do, and you want to finally be acknowledged, praised and recognized for your talent and ability, this is the project that you have been waiting your entire career to be apart of!
